Knackered Mother’s Wine Club Festive Case

If there’s one thing guaranteed to get you through the festive season, it’s a full wine rack. And to help make things just that little bit easier together with my local independent wine shop, the Solent Cellar, we’ve put together a festive-ready case of wine including a bottle of sparkling, a couple of whites, a couple of reds and a divine pudding wine.

Normally the case would cost £74.94 but with this special offer it’s all yours for just £59.99 with free local delivery*, a saving of £14.95 or £69.99 for mail order!

Offer valid until 31.12.18. * Local delivery is free in SO41,42,43,44,45 and BH23,24,25

 What’s in my case?

Dominio de Tharsys Cava Brut Nature

Helen says: A fantastic party-ready sparkler, this is made in the same way as champagne, getting its fizz from a bubble-inducing second fermentation. And it’s bone dry (unlike Prosecco). Made from local grapes, expect plenty of citrus fruit and a whiff of just-crushed digestive biscuits.

Bouchard Macon-Lugny “Saint Pierre”

Helen says:  Brilliant white Burgundy at a sensible price (unlike most!), this is Chardonnay from its spiritual home in France. Fresh and full of white peach fruits, it’s an absolute dream match for turkey.

Zephyr Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Helen says: Made with white Bordeaux in mind, this is one of the smartest New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wines around, with both trademark citrus and a riper passion fruit edge. Perfect with smoked salmon.

Vina Real Rioja Crianza 2013 £11.99

Helen says: Mellow, moreish Rioja made from the Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and and Garciano grapes, this is aged for two years including one in oak barrels, adding weight and oomph (technical term) to this velvet cushion-soft red.

Man Meets Mountain Malbec

Helen says:The foothills of the Andes are where you’ll find the Malbec grapes for this particular blend hanging out. Hot days and cool nights help concentrate the gorgeous plum flavours in the resulting wine. Brilliant with beef.

Chateau Briatte Sauternes 1/2

Helen says: This comes from a vineyard not far from Bordeaux’s most famous sweet wine, Chateau d’Yquem. Of course you could save this until the end of dinner and have it with pudding, mince pies or with blue cheese. Or go early and have a chilled glass in the bath with a good book. Go on, it’s Christmas…
