Wine this good doesn’t often come in at £9. Aged for five years in oak barrels and then in bottle, there’s a ton of typical black cherry flavours, along with vanilla and spice. All the things you want from a good Rioja, really. There’s even gold netting. Love a bit of gold netting. And if that wasn’t enough, Rioja Gran Reserva goes brilliantly with lamb, thanks to that extended ageing allowing the wine plenty of time to mellow. A bargain.
