Happier New Year

It might feel like there’s little to celebrate right now but I wanted to post one last time this year for two reasons. The first is to say a big fat thank you for making The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club such a joy to write. I absolutely love reading your comments and emails and appreciate every single one. The second is to wish you and yours lots of love and happiness for the (hopefully healthier) new year. And if there’s one thing I might be able to offer at this time it’s a couple of wine recommendations to add a little joy to proceedings, however small.

Cheers, winos x

Current white in the rack: Domaine Skouras Assyrtiko

Price: £12.99 - Buy From Majestic

If your taste buds are feeling done in after the festive period, this is the kind of white to shake everything back into focus. A crisp, bright white with buckets of citrus and a touch of green apple fruit about it from Greece. Yes, I said Greece. It’s got a groove, etc.

Current red in the rack: Tesco Finest Chianti Classico

Price: £8.00 - Buy From Tesco

I’m having a bit of a moment with Italian reds (my new book is set partly in Italy) and at the moment I’m hankering after the cherry pop of Chianti. This one’s slicker than your average Chianti Classico at under a tenner, perfect when there’s a plate of pasta in front of you. Properly great value.

    Hi Helen

Following your tv recommendation for roaring meg Pinot Grigio, I had to go and buy a bottle to be sure that it would indeed go well with my Xmas turkey 😉 You didn’t let me down, it was pure wow! Indeed it was so wow that I had to go and buy another 3 bottles for my wine cellar aka the garage. Not sure they will still be about to see in 2021 though 🙂

I have only recently stumbled across your website but my resolution for 2021 is to work my way through more of your yummy suggestions.

So many thanks for all your hard work and for bringing some joy to my world!

    Happy new year!

    Rachael

Thanks Hels, we love you! Thanks to your brilliant wine guide and enthusiasm on Saturday Kitchen, I’m working occasionally in our local wine shop and I can sort of pretend to know what I’m talking about 🙂 It’s more of an excuse to escape the baby and toddler for a few hours and try whatever the boss is opening but I love it. Wishing you and the family all the very best for 2021. Keep up the passion for wine and life – it’s infectious! Angela, Wiltshire x

Thanks Helen. You brighten my day 😁
I have 2 bottles of Chianti Classico Riserva from Aldi that I haven’t opened yet. Was that one of your recommendations, or maybe it was Olli? I’ve loved your Saturday Kitchen appearances and the Insta thingys with Kat, with or without the police😁

Thank you for bringing a level of normality with your posts. They are much appreciated & enjoyed. Although my visits to Saturday Kitchen are a tad random your appearances has truly added to what was a good team. Every best wish for 2021😊
