With just a couple of weeks left until Christmas it’s time to stock up the wine racks and as ever I’ve got a couple of mixed cases for you, lovingly put together with the team from my beloved local independent wine shop The Solent Cellar. One’s a bit smarter than the other; both have been put together with a festive occasion in mind. They’d also make great gifts (that includes self-gifting, obviously). There’s a limited amount of each so be quick if you want in. Here’s what to expect:

KMWC x The Solent Cellar Christmas Crackers Case

£99.99 (normally £113.97)

Gueguen Cremant de Bourgogne Blanc de Noirs
If there’s a style of Cremant that’s absolutely made for festive celebrations it’s Blanc de Noirs and this one’s a beauty with gorgeous red berry fruit flavours and a whiff of just-popped toast.

Louis Jadot Bouzeron
I absolutely love Aligoté when done well and this one from the Cote Chalonnaise is spot on, crisp as a smart white shirt. Add a dash of Cassis and you’ve got a proper Kir.

Gael Felix Quincy 1re Confidence
If you like Sancerre you’ll love this one brilliant white from the Loire Valley, just the thing with smoked salmon.

Chateau Argadens Bordeaux Superieur 2019
Bordeaux Superieur can be great value and when it’s in the hands of a producer as good as Sichel you know that’s exactly what you’re going to get. Brilliant festive Claret.

Sottano Malbec
I find it almost impossible to walk past Malbec without wanting to try it, especially in winter months. This one’s like a hug in a glass.

Martinez Lacuesta Crianza
All black fruits, spice and a hint of leather, Rioja is a non-negotiable in our house at Christmas. Perfect with slow roast lamb or beef (and it makes wrapping presents way more fun).

KMWC x The Solent Cellar Essential Christmas Case

£74.99 (normally £83.94)

Jeio Prosecco Valdobbiadene
Bubbles at Christmas are indeed essential and if you’re having to provide them for a crowd, Prosecco is a very sensible way to do it. This one’s smarter-than-your-average.

Mas Olivier Faugeres Blanc
Faugeres is famous for its brilliant reds but this under-the-radar bright, ripe white wine is quite the star. Perfect drinks party or pre-prandial white.

Famille Gueguen Cotes Salines Bourgogne
From one of my favourite producers in the region, this gorgeous white burgundy is absolutely made to go with turkey and all the trimmings!

Iris Malbec Mendoza
Love this wine, such good value! Another great drinks party candidate, especially with the screwcap.

Camino Real Crianza Rioja
A thoroughly modern take on Rioja with all the mellow fruits you expect but also a juiciness that makes pouring another glass a bit too easy…

Montresor Urban Park Appassimento
Made from partially dried grapes (much like the much more expensive Amarone wine), this has incredible concentration with a real cherry-fruit pop to it.

Click on the links above to order via The Solent Cellar’s website. Just so you know, there’s nothing in this for me other than the joy of supporting a small and very brilliant independent wine business and getting to pick the wines, obviously. Enjoy!
