I know, I can’t believe it either. But yes, I did Celebrity Mastermind and it airs on BBC1 this Saturday. My specialist subject is Jackie Collins (natch) and no spoilers but remember it’s all about the taking part! And despite it being one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done it was also one of the most fun. I got to have a night away in a lovely hotel in Belfast (where the series is filmed) and loved meeting my brilliant fellow contenders – not to mention Clive Myrie. Best of all my charity of choice Art Against Knives received a generous donation and for that reason alone it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. In fact, we made a short film about the work AAK does and I’ll share that next week. In the meantime, some (great value) wine to keep us going…
Current white in the fridge: Luis Felipe Edwards ‘Signature Series’ Viognier Reserva
Price: £7.99 - Buy From Majestic
A gorgeous peachy Viognier from one of Chile’s largest family-owned producers, this one has a touch of oak – just a couple of months – to add a bit of texture & flavour. Think tropical fruits and spice, it’s the kind of white I love at this time of year. Ripe, round and warming. Just the thing with roast chicken.
Current red in the rack: Found Nerello Cappuccio
Price: £7.00 - Buy From M&S
The Found own label range from M&S is a great place for finding some of the more unusual or rarely seen grapes and as far as I know this is first single varietal Nerello Cappuccio on supermarket shelves. Normally blended with other grapes, it’s juicy and jammy and full of gorgeous cherry fruit flavours with a snappy edge keeping it fresh and lively. Serve with tomato-y pizza or pasta.
