Sista

For my sister’s birthday, I ordered her the most fantastic sweatshirt from Selfish Mother’s (uh-mazing) website. It’s this one, grey with the word SISTA emblazoned across the front. Anyway, I sent it on to her, all wrapped up. But after about a week, she still hadn’t received it. Turns out, I’d sent it to her old address. I know, I’m a moron. But this week, more than ever, I really wanted her to be wearing the sweatshirt. She lives in Brussels and flew out of the same airport on the morning before that terrible day on Tuesday. Hard to know what to say but this article is spot on, written by an old blogging friend who lives there too.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter full of love x

Ps. there’s a video about wine and chocolate on the KMWC website, or watch it here.

Current white in the fridge: A Mano Bianco

Price: £8.99 - Buy From Booths

If you live near a Booths supermarket, lucky you. Their wine aisle is stuffed with hand-picked heavenly wines. This one’s from the Puglia region in the south of Italy (think: the heel of the boot). Made by a Californian winemaker and his Italian wife, who settled in the area almost 20 years ago. ‘A mano’ means hand-made. And the wines feel like they’ve been made specifically for long, lazy, family lunches. This one’s a blend of Italian grapes including Falanghina and Fiano. It screams peach, in a good way. Bung a roast chicken on the table and off you go.

Current red in the rack: Extra Special El Meson Rioja Gran Reserva

Price: £9.00 - Buy From Asda

Wine this good doesn’t often come in at £9. Aged for five years in oak barrels and then in bottle, there’s a ton of typical black cherry flavours, along with vanilla and spice. All the things you want from a good Rioja, really. There’s even gold netting. Love a bit of gold netting. And if that wasn’t enough, Rioja Gran Reserva goes brilliantly with lamb, thanks to that extended ageing allowing the wine plenty of time to mellow. A bargain.
