Lots of you have been kind enough to tell me that you find the new wine search function on the website useful (‘THIS WILL CHANGE MY LIFE’, said one, brilliantly). Then, this morning, a friend showed me how she’s downloaded the Search Wine bit to her phone home screen, taking her straight to the wine reviews when she’s in the wine aisle. So clever! Here’s how you do it.
Looking at the website on your phone, tap on FIND WINE NOW! at the top, taking you to the page shown below. Click on the middle button at the bottom of the screen (circled). Then you’ll see this page below. Press ‘Add to Home Screen’.
Then you’ll see this page below. Press ‘Add’.
Voila! There it is. All the latest wine recommendations from the blog just a tap away, on your phone.
Hope that changes your life. Or at least saves you a bit of time in the wine aisle. Time for me to add some more to the list.
Current rose in the fridge: Tesco Finest Sancerre Rose
Price: £9.00 - Buy From Tesco
There’s definitely more rose wine creeping into the fridge now that the weather’s warmed up (temporarily, anyway). And as much as I love a pink from Provence, there are lots of other places to find pale and interesting wines. Producers in the Loire Valley’s Sancerre region make theirs from the Pinot Noir grape – and this is a particular favourite. Fresh and delicate with light redcurrant fruits, all for under a tenner. Lovely with asparagus, it was.
Current Sherry on the Side: Berry Bros. & Rudd Amontillado
Price: £13.95 - Buy From Berry Bros. & Rudd
I needed a dash of sherry for a recipe and once opened, it seem daft not to have a small glass as an aperitif. So glad I did, it was heavenly. Refreshing, dry, nutty, complicated and simple all at the same time. Amontillado starts life as a Fino or Manzanilla sherry but is generally richer, fuller and darker thanks to longer ageing without the layer of special sherry yeast beast flor to protect it. Amazing value for such a smart (fortified) wine.
We went to one of Helen’s wine tastings tonight which was part of London Wine Week. It was really enjoyable and a great evening out. She was talking about Loire wines which she is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about. I would recommend her events to anyone whether they have only a beginners interest in wine or are knowledgeable wine enthusiasts.
Bless you, thank you Cath! It was lovely to meet you and such a gorgeous wine tasting to do. Amazing wines, beautiful venue, great people – I’m very lucky! Hope to see you again, do sign up in the meantime and I can keep you posted on events!
Am so looking forward to secretly shopping for wine in lidl now that I can tap the app, thank you Helen.
Fantastic – get on it! x
