Hot Stuff

Last week was mostly fuelled by codeine following knee surgery so I didn’t get to post. Instead I shared something on the KMWC Facebook page I’d prepared earlier: me flying on a trapeze. Filmed months before I did my knee in, obviously. Anyway more on that here next week but for now, given that it’s been hotter here than the hottest June day in 1976, this week’s wine recommendations should be drunk *really* cold. Preferably feet up, in the garden. Doctor’s orders.

Current sparkling the fridge: Taste The Difference Conegliano Prosecco 1.5l

Price: £15.50 - Buy From Sainsbury's

I know they say size doesn’t matter but when it comes to a bottle of Prosecco, I beg to differ. This is a magnum (equivalent to two bottles) and it’s currently on offer (it’s normally it’s £19). This is just how I like my prosecco: fresh and frothy with soft bubbles and lots of pear fruit flavours. And just off-dry enough to make it very easy to drink. Super size, literally.

Current rose in the fridge: Las Fincas Rosado

Price: £14.95 - Buy From Great Western Wine

I mean, look at that bottle! So lovely. The colour of the wine is candy floss pink rather than Provence pale and has a much bigger burst of fruit to go with it. And the wine has been left on its lees (yeasts after fermentation) for a while adding oomph and flavour, so it’s really food-friendly too (think big herby salads, roasted vegetables, fish, roast chicken, anything lightly spicy – told you it was food friendly). Made by one of the biggest names in Spanish wine, from the Navarra region. Gorgeous stuff.

Whow another lovely KMWC case of wines from Laithwaits, I just love opening the box up as all the wines you choose are delicious and also have the best labels on, like pieces of art work. One happy knackered mother in this house 🙂
