Autumn Feels

Oh, how I love this time of year. I’m back in jumpers. I’ve picked blackberries. I’m drinking red wine in front of the fire. Truly: my comfort zone. But I saw a quote on Instagram the other day (bear with me) and it said that outside of your comfort zone is where the magic happens. So, now that I’ve finished writing my latest drinks book (out next year, I’ll go on about it then), I’m going back to writing my first novel. So far out of my comfort zone, even in jumpers. Magical.

Current white in the fridge: Tesco Finest Monteforte Pinot Grigio

Price: £8.50 - Buy From Tesco

As grapes go, Pinot Grigio is perhaps one of the more easy going styles. Simple, sometimes even a little meh. But find a good one and it’s a joy. Light, lemony and bright, this is the kind of wine you want to greet you at the end of the day with nothing but a bowl of salty crisps for company. And good telly, obviously.

Current red in the rack: Rieno De La Vina Rioja Reserva

Price: £10.00 - Buy From Morrisons

Rioja comes in all shapes and sizes, from old skool leathery ones to juicy, bright fruity ones. It all depends on the who, how and where. This one is definitely a modern take with polished, juicy black cherry fruit flavours and a generous dash of vanilla thanks to time spent lolling about in oak barrels. If you like your Rioja old and leathery this might not be for you. Otherwise, fill boots.
