Festival Drinks

We’re off to a festival this weekend. And it’s my favourite kind of festival because it’s local, meaning I get to soak up the atmosphere and still collapse into my own bed at the end of it. (It’s the Curious Arts Festival and you can find out more about it here). Anyway, this made me think about festival friendly drinks so this week’s wine recommendations are all gorgeous, great value and glass-free. If you’re off to a festival this summer, here’s hoping you have a fabulous time. And that you pick a portaloo with a door that actually locks.

Current rosé in the fridge: Maris Organic Rosé

Price: £3.49 - Buy From Waitrose

I absolutely love this wine. Not just because it’s in a portable, recyclable, quick-to-chill can that won’t spill on the dance floor (the struggle is real, people). But because the wine inside is seriously good value, full of fresh, bright red fruits. And it’s organic. Respect.

Current red in the rack: Argentinian Malbec 1.5l

Price: £9.99 - Buy From Aldi

This is two bottles of enormously loveable Malbec in a pouch (I know, I’m sorry it’s called that too). But pouch aside, it’s easy to carry, stays fresh for 6 weeks once opened (not that we’ve ever opened a wine and not finished within the week in this house) and has an impressively reduced carbon footprint compared with a glass bottle (80% less, fyi). Apologies for the crappy picture but it’s not available online, only from stores. And best of all, being red you don’t even have to worry about chilling it, making it properly festival ready.

  • I’ve bight the Aldi pouch ready to try ahead of festival season. I so glad you’ve recommended it here as I will now go and buy a few more. There’s nothing like a beaker of wine to celebrate the tent going up and all stuff ferried from the car.
