I’m currently 60% rosé, 40% hot dogs and the school holidays haven’t even started yet. I blame the weather. And the football. Anyway, Eldest Boy breaks up on Friday, the other two at the end of next week. Then we’ve got six long weeks ahead and as usual I can’t wait/am dreading it in pretty equal measure. On the one hand, no routine! On the other, no routine! I can feel my rosé levels rising already.
Current white in the fridge: Taste The Difference Côtes du Rhône White
Price: £7.00 - Buy From Sainsbury's
The reds from here tend the hog the spotlight but the white wines from the Rhone are usually a great (value) mash up of local grapes, in this case Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne, Bourboulenc and Clairette. All peaches and white flowers, it’s a properly unpretentious, happy wine. Gorgeous with grilled/barbecued chicken.
Current rosé in the fridge: Lez Arts Rosé 1.5l
Price: £19.99 - Buy From Majestic
This brilliant value redcurrant fruit-scented rosé is from the Luberon in southeast France and comes in a summer-holiday-friendly magnum bottle. The fact that the label channels Duran Duran’s Rio video only works in its favour as far as I’m concerned (I was a huge fan. Oh don’t look at me like that). Perfect for a crowd and your bodyweight in salty crisps.
