I have a terrible poker face. That whole ‘can’t tell what they’re thinking’ thing? Whatever it is, it’s usually written all over mine. In marker pen. So when I was told something exciting last week, and then told to keep it quiet until next week, my heart sank. I’m literally bursting to tell you but it’ll have to wait. What I can tell you is that I’m all over the place this week and next. And I’m telling you in the hope that some of you might be near enough one of the events I’m doing to come. Here’s where I’ll be:
- This Thursday (29th November) I’m at The Mulberry Inn in Chiddingfold, Surrey for a wine tasting & dinner. Click here for more info.
- Next Tuesday (4th Dec) I’ll be at the Corsham Bookshop in Wiltshire to talk (and make, ofc) Homemade Cocktails. See here for more details.
- On the evening of the 5th and morning of the 6th December I’ll be at Warborne Farm in Lymington for their annual Christmas Fair with books, wine and knackered tees from FWP By Rae.
- Finally, on the evening of the 6th Dec I’m kicking off a Gin & Jazz evening (I know! Gin! And Jazz!) at the East End Arms in Hampshire. Get in touch here to check, they might still have a table free.
Hope to see you there. (You can read my poker face).
Current white in the fridge: Jaboulet Viognier
Price: £9.99 - Buy From Majestic
Love this peachy Viognier from one of the biggest names in the Rhone Valley. Ripe and round with bags of tropical fruit flavours, it’s the kind of white winter was made for. And if you can’t find any on the shelf, it’s because my mum’s bought it all (sorry). Try it with roast chicken.
Current red in the rack: Bijou Rouge Cuvee Sophie Valrose
Price: £8.99 - Buy From Waitrose
A gorgeous, juicy blend of two classic southern French grapes, this is as sleek on the inside as it is on the outside. There’s a touch of the herbals to the black fruits and spice and the alcohol isn’t too crazy at 13.5%. Great value at under a tenner. One to stuff in the rack pre-Christmas, I’d say.
